I'm going full-fledged fucking geek on this one, because I collect a lot of Nintendo accessories and objects that have sentimental value to me. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

First off, Amiibo. They are figurines of popular Nintendo franchise characters, and most are linked directly to the new Super Smash Bros game for Wii U. There's currently approximately 80 something Amiibo out, and more than half of them belong to SSB. They have chips in the bottom of the stand that you can scan to access in-game features like naming and training your character, but to me they are purely collectibles. They're not coming out of those boxes any time soon.

Some are japanese imports, others are super lucky finds that are really rare. I picked up Dark Pit and Palutena from Kid Icarus (far right) just today actually. I'm expecting a Mewtwo Amiibo in the mail in about 2 weeks as well, so that's pretty cool.

This single fucking card is selling for several hundred bucks, and even in shitty condition (I'm talking bruised and bent) it'll throw up a good 60$+.

I don't like go out and intentionally collect things, but I do enjoying buying blu rays when they come out. I have a lotttt of blu ray bundles, like the star wars saga, the lotr trilogy, the bond 50th anniversary bundle, the indiana jones bundle. stuff like that makes me happy. Also used to be wayyy into yugioh and i think i still have a good chunk of my cards in a bin somewhere

I wouldn't say I collect them, because I do use them of course, but I have a  whole bunch of movies and CD's. My parents say I use them to fill a void in my life--I agree and buy more.

I hoard copies of Game Informer, mostly because I feel wrong just throwing them away.

When Coke was doing that name on a bottle deal, I bought like...40 of them with the names of my family members--even had some made. Those are all sitting on the bar, losing carbon and gaining dust.

I used to collect Yu-Gi-Oh cards--back when that was a thing--but now they're all just in a pile somewhere.  Haven't touched 'em since 2005...with one exception.

I saw this Legendary Collection thing at Walmart, and it had the three fucking God Cards from the original series. I bought it immediately, took it home and left it wrapped up while I masturbated to it for 45 minutes. Then I put it on the couch and just humped it like a fleshlight.

i convinced my grandma to buy me the legendary gods when I was in 7th grade. They were like $40 a piece and a month later I left them in my pocket and put them through the washing machine and ruined them. I cried.

Marksman, seeing some of those unopened pokemon cards really took me back. I actually have a pretty decent collection of some rare cards as well. None of them are in sleeves though, they just kind of sit in a drawer.

can't really think of anything I collect now, but I used to love all the card trading stuff in middle school!
I got about 800 pokemon cards, with 26 ex cards if I remember correctly, lugia ex as well, I thought that was a pretty rare one.
I'm glad you made this thread, reminded me of those things sitting in my drawer, I wonder how much money I could make out of them.
unless those are the kind of things that increase in value over time?

Amiibo's are the physical manifestation of DLC, fuck Nintendo.   Collecting Pokemon cards is cool I guess.  I used to collect those as well as YuGiOh and Digimon cards as a kid.  And then I grew up.

I guess if I collected anything it would have to be video game shit. I have a pretty damn good game collection/consoles. Working on the older stuff. Oldest console I have is a Sega Genesis I got for $5 which also came bundled with a PS1.

I don't really collect anything tangible like trading cards, but I used to collect sneakers in high school, that's about it.   Had every pair of Jordan's except the 4s and the 7s.

Holy shit the new Pokemon stuff looks like fucking garbage. I know how expensive those sealed boxes are...you never get anywhere close to the return from opening them, so I just don't get it. I collect cards, too, but I collect sports cards. They can get stupid expensive. Best I have is ~four that are worth about $250 each.

When I was a kid, I collected Thomas the Train type of stuff, like the playable train tracks you can build and get all the trains from the show. Also getting ramps, bridges, hills, and ect to put on our track.
