General Work in Progress Chat

I always render uncompressed AVI in between Vegas and AE so I don't need to worry about render settings. Then I use easyh264 to compress the file. Project file sizes can get pretty big though if you're rendering uncompressed while editing so it's only worth it if you have a lot of disk space.

I see Lorem ipsum way too much in CS to not know what it is haha. Especially while using LaTeX.

I do web design on the side so I literally just have a stickynote on my desktop with it, haha.

I honestly can't believe people aren't just using purely adobe products. The seamless transition between dynamic link and taking everything into Audition is just better than anything else out there atm.

Unless you like editing halo videos in Avid for some reason.

Well, I'm already so used to Vegas (8 years now I think) and I don't think rendering back and forth between Vegas and AE is a big enough problem for me to make the switch to Premiere. Muggsy works professionally as a video editor for Azubu and still uses Vegas so I doubt it it's worth the switch if you're already proficient with it.

You don't know what you're missing if you use After Effects and a non-linear.

The bin system>> as well.

Vegas isn't bad by any means, but Premiere is much better in every way now. It's funny how it use to be complete shit until Adobe saw what Final Cut was going to do with X.

I use the Adobe products for image editing and audio editing, but I just cannot get into the video side of it. I have been using Sony Vegas for so damn long that it's just engrained in me. I also don't really "edit" my videos like a real editor does, so it's not too big of a deal. Pretty much clips on a timeline with a slightly different shade of color lol.

I use the ACC pal. But my TT2 file was already in Vegas, will be switching out after this.

Putting together Llama's clips so he doesn't have to torture himself with Windows Movie Maker. I did as much as I could in the few hours I had :/ Rendering now.

Also lmao, Fatal is just shitting out amazing edits recently. Probably tied with DoubleAA for busiest editor 2016.

As someone who uses Premiere fulltime for my job. It's fucking shit.

But it's less fucking shit than a lot of other editors.

"The seamless transition between dynamic link and taking everything into Audition is just better than anything else out there atm."

Even then, dynamic link is so half baked. Cached frames in AE or prerenders don't follow over to premiere which has to blindly render every frame every time no matter what. For 80% of my work it's actually faster, more stable, and easier to just render out a file from AE, import, edit with it. If I need to edit it, I offline the file, render it again in AE and overwrite the file and relink it.

Even just using Dynamic Link and then getting a green light from management on an animation, I could use render and replace to bake in the file, but somehow it's slower and also doesn't let me touch premiere until it's done. or I could just let it render inside of AE in the background while I keep editing. It needs an overhaul.

I gave up on Auditions dynamic link a long time ago.

I always render uncompressed AVI in between Vegas and AE so I don't need to worry about render settings. Then I use easyh264 to compress the file. Project file sizes can get pretty big though if you're rendering uncompressed while editing so it's only worth it if you have a lot of disk space.

Frankly in 99% of workflows, purely uncompressed has no business even being an option. Use Quicktime Animation, Cineform 12bit RGBA, ProRES, PNG sequence, UT RGB, or any of the other alternatives. Uncompressed is so storage bottlenecked it's often slower to work with than lightly compressed content which in bit for bit can drop the bitrates by often 50-75% with barely any CPU overhead. I'm talking like a single core barely can sweat even in fullHD stuff.

If you're working with something special in terms of content then maybe you can't find a codec which does what you need and you need YV12 Uncompressed or some sort of weird color space, but that's really rare if you're just working with digitally created content and not trying to conform to older hardware systems for broadcast or something.

I've dealt a fair bit with broadcast standards at my job and it's so stupid.

What are you doing at your job where dragging the AE comp into Premiere doesn't work well?

I rarely ever have problems with that. I agree on the Audition Dynamic Link as I just send all the audio as different stems now.

need more pictures lol

@Fatal Are you on editing roids?

@ Swanky does that make me the least? I'm a lazy shit. I'm not going to make the deadline for sure by the way, I'm only like 1/3 in, I started too late - but the video will be out sometime in the next month for sure. Nice pics by the way.

Nah, you'd be laziest piece of shit editor 2011-2016 or however long you were gone lol <3 Really excited to see what you have, even if it's not part of the contest. I'm looking to release my newest vid within a week hopefully.

Just some old scraps I found earlier today. Kinda a shame gunshot m2 didnt really get off the ground.

Also I found a second intro I did for Game Over and kinda regret not using that one but totally get why I bailed on it at the time </3 (uploading later)

2011! Oi pal. Cheeky. Last Halo video I made I think might of been Serenity which was my dual with Phurion. Nice man.

finally got my CF3 working again and picked up some other toys to play with. also, just ordered a nvidia gtx 950 ssc and a second water cooler & psu to put together another pc from my old board & cpu so ill be able to team render with 8/12 cpu cores & 3 GDDR5 gpus with 32gb ram. another i7 + 8gb if i include my laptop. so ill probably start doing some more serious type stuff in between freelancing.
