Official THF 2.0 Bugs & Feedback Thread

This may just be a nitpicky aesthetic complaint,  but I think usernames above the avatar are better. I like the username, rather than a picture, being the first thing I see when looking at a post; makes it easier to identify the author of the post, especially since avatars change over time.   Perhaps more importantly, I think that the username blends in with the text below ("Member for") too much. (...if you are going to bold text in that area, I would bold the username and unbold the other things like 'Member for"). But perhaps username above wouldn't look as "clean", idk. Just giving my thoughts.

Good call, I've moved them to the top.

It looks nice, but the changes will take some getting used to. Especially since vbulletin is the only type of board I've ever used.

I think this is why people dont like the "feel" of this new site. We have all been using vbulletin for 5-10 years. It will take some getting used to but I think this was a positive change.

I'm sure this has been asked but is there anyway to view who has liked posts?

edit: good idea zyphex, it looks a lot better having the names on top

The change is weird but considering how much more we can do with it I think the initial shock will definitely be worth it.

I think a comment/rating system similar to big CS one (name is escaping me, Movie Vault?) would be amazing for the videos archive. i think the archive looks amazing and it would be great if we kept the forum the forum and let there be a discussion in the video section.

maybe we could even organize critics and have a critic and general public rating system for montages.

I think some social links like XBL, Youtube, Twitch, Twitter, personal website or anything, should be put under the profile within small icons to compensate the lack of signatures.

signatures will be added but it's a low priority right now

Dawnie needs help accessing her account; can't get into her email. I can send her a PW reset link, or someone else can on FB.

Edit: also, can you pin the reply/quote/like box to the bottom of the posts? A position: absolute; bottom: 0; on the ul looks like it does so without side effects (other than some MQ stuff but that's always the case).

Yeah, she should have gotten an activation email. Otherwise, she can just use the request a new password option. It's right on the login window.

Sounds like she didn't listen and update her forum email to one she can access.

Tell her to PM me on halo2forum with the email she wants to use.

Will do.

edit: -_-

Also, not sure if this is intended behavior, but if you edit a post, after it redirects you back to the post, there's an extra / in the path (e.g., http://www.thehaloforum.com//forum/)

In latest Chromium at least.

edit: looks like it happens after deleting a post, as well.

Ok, have her try password reset again. Also, had to remove the "!" from her name as it is an illegal character for usernames.
Thanks you two.
Is there any way to jump to the last page of a thread when clicking on it from the forum thread list? Apologies if this has already been asked. So far I've only been able to get to the first page of the thread, then I have to scroll to the bottom to find the page list, then click on "last."

Arrow next to the name of the person who posted last will take you to the most recent post.
Thanks Dante
How do I edit my posts per page?

Damn RIP to my 2008 status.

Not a fan of the cyan esque color you chose imo

Sorry

yea its a little late but in 2015 Xenforo is the goat, feel like it woulda made more sense over drupal/harmony.

I disagree for more reasons than I have time to list right now. Drupal will serve us far better in the long run. If you're in the industry you would agree.

I'm in the "industry" and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Xenforo would have been a way better option than this from what I've seen so far, but I'll sit back & see what happens.

Damn RIP to my 2008 status.

You needed to update your email before we launched the new site to make sure you could access your account. Please check your PM's.

So what is it that you do for a living and what reasons compel you to think that Xenforo is a better option? Also be sure to explain how you would pull off other site features that exist such as the video archive quickly and easily without having to spend significant time writing custom code. Also, be sure to explain what kind of a community is behind Xenforo, and let me know if it has extensive plugins/modules that would support quick implementation of new features. Also be sure to explain why Drupal is a bad solution, but be sure to fully understand the reach of the platform before doing so, along with its capabilities.

Edit: See the problem here is that you and others have no idea how badly you have no idea about Drupal.

Yeah, when you decided to move us off of that shitpile vBulletin you should have paid for a product whose creators were sued for ripping off vBulletin.

And oh no, you used a simple Bootstrap theme while bootstrapping your platform from something that didn't exist before, what a grievous sin you have committed.

I run a pro wrestling youtube & forum, which both literally pay all my bills & my leisure life. Both can be found below,

Everything you could have ever wanted could have been achieved through Xenforo & their page system. I didn't want to say it before, but I'm going to be completely honest with you at this point: I think you have just put the final nail in the coffin here. vB 3 is old & outdated, but this is just taking forty steps back for no reason. Great, you have a video page (that could be achieved in a better fashion through a few different add-ons on Xenforo btw), but you have just made everything else about the forum inaccessible.

Forums are about social engagement now more than ever. You can't just have a forum with a forum list anymore. They have to be able to keep up with Twitter & Facebook as a place that people even want to spend their time & this forum looks like one that would be released around the release of Halo 2, which isn't a good thing in today's market.

Better portal add-on: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/8wayrun-com-xenporta-2-portal-pr...

Better media add-on: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/8wayrun-com-xenmedio-media-pro.1...

Better everything: https://xenforo.com/community/

I'll be honest that when I first heard you were going to upgrade the forum software, I was excited because I thought, "there is no way he'll pick anything other than Xenforo." Going from vB to IPB would have been like going from Halo: Reach to Halo 4, and there is really nothing else on the forum market that is growing as fast nor is as interactive in both the community itself & the software than Xenforo. Heard you were doing this Drupal gimmick & knew it was done there. I understand that you take a community college class for Drupal or whatever, but I think even you know somewhere in your head that this wasn't the best decision.

Tack on the fact that you killed all the SEO to this site that had been built up for years.

I don't know man, seems like a bad choice to me.

Yeah, when you decided to move us off of that shitpile vBulletin you should have paid for a product whose creators were sued for ripping off vBulletin.

Lawsuit which was dropped because guess what, it was a bunch of garbage bullshit that iB tried to pull to stop the massive movement Xenforo was making. I've been around XF for years now, & it's the absolute best forum platform around right now.

Making threads does not automatically (automagically) subscribe you to that thread. (Unsure if this had been said before). Would be awesome to see the post you're quoting. All that comes to mind currently. Minor things in the grand scheme of things; I do like how this performs over VB/previous Mobile site seems really awesome compared to most that I browse from on other forums (I typed this entire post on my phone which is extremely rare).

Generally, if the lawsuit were dropped, the parties aren't described as having "reached a confidential settlement agreement." HTH.

Why haven't you posted your Xenforo affiliate link yet?

Literally killed the SEO

Are you always this ignorant? Do you really think you're going to stay at that point when Google finds out that all your thread links don't exist anymore on The Halo Forum domain?

You used past tense, but this is nothing that isn't trivially fixed by 301s and subdirectories that can be generated by a throwaway script + regex.

Responding is literally not worth my breath @Puls3. Thank you for at least making an honest attempt at a case for yourself, but I'm just going to leave it at the fact that Xenforo is a FAR INFERIOR platform. A better forum software by default? Yes, probably. A good content management system? No.

You're clearly ignorant about Drupal, a system I've been using for well over 6 years now. Did you know that Weather.com is run on it? What about Whitehouse.gov? I don't think you have a clue how many extremely high profile companies, government agencies, and public institutions run on Drupal, and there's a reason for it.
