I have the most annoying ISP ever.

That's right, I have a 600 Gig data limit, I started with the 200 plan, ran out in about a week and a half, switched to the 300 plan, lasted about 3 weeks. Now I'm paying 170 something a month for 600 gigs at 250mb/s but I need to buy a new router for that to even matter....

Do they actually do anything about it? I have a "200 GB" with ~100 down and ~15 up and have blown over that limit every month for years now and the most they've ever done is send a strongly worded email.

I signed up for internet with speeds of 25 download, 5 upload, and a 500 gb cap for $60 a month (good deal for Vancouver). Last year they decreased the data cap to 250gb (even though they never charge for going over the cap + not sure how they can just change the cap after we signed a contract but whatever). And now they just announced that they WILL be charging for going over the cap. $5 for 50gb over the cap, $10 everytime after for another of 50gb, with a max  $75 in extra charges.

How the shit are you using over 600gb per month? Just curious. My family uses about 400gb, everyone has their own netflix device and me and my dad both download a lot.

So I'm not satisfied with my 250mbps broadband because

My brother and I used 962gb in December. Averaging about 500gb a month.  Torrent a lot but def thought would never use that much.

Glad I got it tho :)

I hope I will not be using over 600gb now, I have a wife and 2 kids, 4 tablets in total, streaming netflix a lot, music a lot, I stopped torrenting almost all-together, and I have a liking for funny cat videos on youtube. Setting Steam games to update only when launched helps some because my first month with them I had just moved over the course of 2 months so all of my games updated and maxed my data right there.

We don't have cable because the prices are outrageous so we use an Amazon Fire Tv and that thing robs data like mad because you can't shut it off without unplugging it. If I use the next lowest allotment it's 300gb and if you hit that, it throttles your speed down to 512kb/s where you can buy another 20gb for $10. This company is working on 1gb/s internet which makes no sense to me if you have a data limit.

Edit: and Friends is on Netflix now, one can not simply stop watching Friends once it has started.

I've never heard of an ISP having a data cap. That fucking sucks.

Damn, that sucks... I have Cox Communications, and they don't have a set data cap. They send me a letter via snail mail when I go over 400GB that says, "Hey, you use the internet a lot... stop that," but they don't throttle speeds or anything based on my testing.

I actually like Cox Com a lot, though... I was paying $60/month for 50 down / 20 up, and they just doubled the speeds of all their packages a month or two ago... Now I'm getting 100 down / 40 up for $60 and no cap. Check to see if they're in your area. Had them for almost 4 years and they've been great.

Dam, 250 mbps and a 600 gb cap. Thats great
