Rest In Paradise Jacob "Black Lotus" Vasques

Some of you may remember Black Lotus back from the H3 days, He spent alot of time on H3F. He was one of my closet friends i ever met on XBL me and him spent so many hours playing together.

He passed away on new years eve.

No matter how sad or depressed you guys get please love life always, because it can be taken from you in a blink of an eye.

Damn dude, my uncle just died and I was telling my mom that I had lost 4 friends from Halo over the years. "I don't know how many have passed that I haven't even heard about..."

Make it 5.  :'(

RIP buddy <3

Yeah i hated to hear about it, ive been friends with him on Facebook for years then tonight it randomly popped up on my feed.

No .... :(

Many years ago we would sometimes talk on AIM. Although we weren't close at all, I clearly remember him as a really nice person. I'm  sad to hear about this.

Scarecrow, I wish I had the right words right now, but just know that I care. Chin up. And of course, my thoughts go out to anyone else who was close to him.

I just watched his 2nd montage and immediately recognized the clip at 1:15 because I get killed for the triple. A whole flood of fond memories suddenly came back to me.

Yeah i know what you mean Dutchy. After watching all his montages tonight it makes me miss how we use to 1v1 in H3, and him telling me how it was stupid for me to make a H3 1v1 montage. lol

Great FkN times.

Sorry to hear this boys.
rest in peace.

Thanks sk0ls

It's always surreal seeing your name next to someone who has passed. I still get sad every time I see Henshi's gamertag come up in one of my videos.

My happy Valentine's Day montage experience will never be the same... When I get home in a few weeks I'll grab my old HDD and see if I still have his clips on my computer. If I do, we can put together a tribute video. Cross your fingers <3

I was actually gonna message you about doing something like that. <3
damn thats so fucked, lotus was def a staple dude on the boards for a long time. Hadnt seen his name in quite some years tho. RIP. always a big thing to have these videos of their making and them having good times with the thf crew, make sure to save the physical files if you have them so we can keep em up.

Didn't know him, but RIP.

damn dude really sorry to hear about losing your friend. i remember really enjoying his 2nd montage. RIP
Thanks bud
I remember that guy, sorry to hear about that scarecrow, stuffs never fun

I think of Lotus as part of the brick and mortar for H3F. He was so well known his famous tagline was memeticized on here.

Do you know what happened? Just curious.

Rest well, Lotus.

He OD'ed on New Years Eve.
There should be permanent memorials on this site for Elmo, Henshi and Lotus, but then again nobody's gonna take a 45+ year old's idea seriously on a gaming forum.

Damn that's too bad. I remember playing with him a few times around the time that we were in Elevation together. Crazy to think that now two people from that montage have passed away. From what I recall Lotus was a cool dude. RIP.

Wait who else in that montage is gone?

But for no one else on the forum who passes away before their time? Is it a measure of popularity? Contributions to the community? Personality? Dying sucks, and we all unfortunately go through it. But we can't put up memorial pages just for the people who were popular. All the other chopped liver out there wouldn't feel so loved or accepted, would they? Hell, if I died tomorrow, how many of you would shrug and laugh?

I understand the need to memorialize, but remember, in the passing of a life, the most important step is acceptance--moving on.  Making a tribute is fine, but cementing it is not only an unhealthy extension of grieving, but  it's also hard work. If a section like that was made, and two, three, six years down the line pass, we have to move to a new domain--who's going to maintain it?  Transfer it?  Update and monitor it?  It may seem like a good idea now, but less and less people will visit it, and it will eventually be forgotten. You may love and respect each other, but Time doesn't care who any of us are.  Our lives will fade, and so too, will the memories of those lives.

sorry to be a downer, but that's just the way it works.

Damn that sucks to hear, seeing that montage again was pretty nostalgic.  RIP dude.
Crazy Shroom committed suicide like 5 or so years ago, from what I remember.

Bipolar Nick dedicated his final to him. Still remember it.
