Definitely worth the watch
The Jukebox: A Halo Reach Video by Ham & Swanky
Shame about using that "wasted" thing, though, since Eamonn just did that in the film comp. ;)
So good. The editing was so light handed, but so many beautiful touches (syncing the melee celly to the song and other tiny syncs like that), but the effects that were put in were mostly nice (the predator missile and the Hyena homage). Just excellent editing and the gameplay was obviously insane. Some of the clips I can't speak on because I didn't play enough Reach to know some of the spots, but I love clever plays like that, especially ones where an opponent is lured into doing something. I don't want to comment on any of the clips specifically just in case someone is dumb enough to read this first as I don't want to spoil the clips, but I will say the Hemorrhage launch clip (I think that's the map) and the stepping stones clip straight gave me chills. The whole second song actually was pretty goosebump inducing, which is extremely rare for a non H3 video for me.

Did he? I haven't seen that. I actually took that effect from my submission to the montage comp here, but it's definitely not something one editor can have a monopoly on. It makes me glad to hear you enjoyed the minimalist style, it was only natural given Ham's clips necessitated more 'storytelling' and 'setup' through the cinematics than most multi-kills. In a way this project was actually a culmination of everything that I've taken a liking to in editing, seeing as part 2 used the same artist as an H2 tage I edited called Prodigy, which also included a Hyena nod. Also the slowmo pistol transition in part 1 is pretty much a direct copy from one that I did in my H4M4, I already spoke on the 'wasted' effect.
And if you never got into Reach very much you might not know, but nearly all these spots are completely unheard of outside the small HLG community. A few of the spots like the asylum one were found by Ham himself. Dude has game knowledge that's absolutely unparalleled on Reach, and rivals the best on H3. As for the stepping stones, I spent many hours last year in customs with Ham and some other friends just practicing the timing and position of the jump (it's insanely hard, even with someone as consistent as Hambxne as the jumper). I wasn't involved on the attempt that actually made it into the tage, but seeing it finally line up and lead into a kill like that made all the work worth it.
Anyways, will post more detailed 'making-of' thoughts later on when I get the chance. Thanks for the comments
